Doing well Two weeks in and on plan. So far, I feel like this is doable…Jeff’s not so sure since he can’t have some of his favorite foods but he’s hanging in there. The weight loss is a big motivator for him.
Two things on that – first, if you stay on plan and don’t cheat, you’ll find the cravings fade quite a bit, and your taste buds change. That’s one of the good things about the diet – it sort of resets you back to a more normal way of eating.
Second, depending on what he’s craving, there are some things you can do on plan to satisfy the cravings. Let me know what’s driving him nuts and maybe I’ll have some suggestions that can help. For example, I really missed pasta – but I learned that substituting spagheetti squash, and/or shiratki noodles helped with the cravings while letting me stay on plan.
oh yeah – and make sure he’s eating the required healthy fat servings every day. I found that I was eating all leanest options – lots of fish – and using balsamic vinegar for salad dressing, and not getting in my fat servings, and after a while, the cravings really shot up. Your body will let you know if you’re missing nutritents, and it needs healthy fat to operate efficiently.
Well, pork is on plan for 5&1, but the beans have to wait – but the good news is that with very minor poking, pork and beans isn’t a bad meal. High protein, and doesn’t have to be high calorie, so it’ll be back on the menu once he gets to transition!
In the meantime, try Walden Farms barbecue sauce. No, it doesn’t taste like pork and beans – but it’s zero fat, zero cal, zero carbs, and on shredded chicken over a bed of lettuce, it tastes pretty good!
