Dick spent some time on the MA senate race to open the show today. He will vote for Steve Pagliuca primarily because he is not an incumbent. I like Pagluica’s financial background (ex-partner with Mitt Romney at Bain Capital) but I hate his platform. He wants to tax the rich, expand government healthcare and crack down on Wall Street.

I brought up Climategate, which had not reached any of the media sources Dick relies on. I am hopeful that this huge scandal will put an end to the global warming baloney we have been subject to for so many years, and bring down the liberal media at the same time.

WE talked about The President’s unpopularity, and Dick reminded me that if he is not popular, he won’t be re-elected. I reminded Dick that a lot of damage can be done between now and 2012.

Next we talked about the health care vote on Saturday and Harry Reid’s $300 million Louisiana Purchase in exchange for Mary Landrieu’s vote. That didn’t seem to trouble Dick. So I wondered if putting $300 million for every senator’s vote in the bill would bother him.

We also talked about ACORN’s discovered document dump, the emerging policy in Afghanistan and Sarah Palin’s book sales of 700,000 in the first week. Amazing!

Today’s show was fun – we started with Dick’s correct prediction that Paul Kirk would be named interim MA senator (after Deval Patrick manipulated the rules to allow the appointment). This was minutes after Kirk declared he supported the “public option” and hours before it was voted down. C’est la vie.

We want on to Health care and the Congress’ gag order on Humana to force them to stop telling their policy holders what would be the changes under Obama care. We went on to the democrats unwillingness to allow the public (or Congress) to read the bill for 72 hours before the vote.

Next up GITMO and the very discouraging news that President Obama refuses press access to the camps. This is a huge and troubling change from the Bush administration. The key question is: why?

We talked about ACORN, Patrick Gaspard, ties to the SEIU, and the press. Dick gloated that 2 weeks after the whole thing unraveled he found a story on ACORN in the NY Times owned Worcester Telegram. Page 1 you ask? Of course not.

We moved on to Iran, Wall Streets $7.7m in donations to democrats this year (the bulk to Chuck Schumer) the Olympics, Roman Polanski and finally Sarah Palin’s new book.

Enjoy!

Today we started with state politics, particularly Dick’s prediction that Paul Kirk would be named interim successor to Senator Kennedy. I noted that everyone else was predicting Michael Dukakis to the seat. If I’m reading my tweets correctly, as of 2:30 on 9-24-09, Dick had it right.

Next week tackled ACORN with the emphasis on the President’s attempt to disassociate himself with a group he has been associated with for 20 years. We talked about how all of the MA delegation voted to NOT defund ACORN after the recent scandals, except for John Tierney and Barney Frank, who abstained.

Finally we talked about my very favorite part of the scandal which is how it has shown the media to be shilling for the President, as most of the mainstream media declined to mention the scandal until the vote took place.

The fact that the vote took place at all tells me that regardless of the attempts to downplay the Tea Party last week, Congress heard us.

We went on to the latest scandal where the White House coordinated with the National Endowment for the Arts in what certainly looks like an attempt to get the arts community to push the president’s agenda in exchange for grant money. Dick had not heard of the scandal once again highlighting the negligence of the media.

In the discussion the media, special mention was given to Andrew Breitbart’s new website, Big Government, which is leading the charge on exposing both the administration and the media.

There was a lot in between but we ended talking how the administration is back pedaling on what it always called “the good war”, and how reports from Iran are very encouraging.

There is more but you will have to listen.

Dick and I talked about the MA budget and the 25% sales tax hike which passed last night bringing our taxes to 6.25%, one of the highest sales tax rates in the country. We also talked about California’s pending bankruptcy and Barney Frank’s promise to bail out California with our money. We also talked about MA “quasi public agencies” where we the taxpayers pay lots of people lots of money to do – well we don’t really know.

Dick commented that President Obama was “transparent” as he is constantly out there making speeches. Visibility is not transparency in my book, and I encouraged Dick to watch the President’s left hand when his right hand is moving.

We talked a bit aboutthe abortion issue and how it isn’t an issue in MA, and hasn’t been an issue in MA for a decade at least, but nearly every democrat runs on that issue in order to scare people into voting for them. My inner libertarian snuck out as I suggested that people could make any decision they want as long as the government doesn’t pay for it.

Now on a roll I proposed that we immediately replace the legislature with non-paid volunteers who work only when needed. I also proposed that we immediately suspend all government programs except police and fire, and start again. And I was only half kidding.

We had a good discussion about the information emerging about ACORN and particularly the latest revelation that the NY Times had information about illegal campaign activity between the Obama campaign and ACORN and refused to publish it, lest it be an “election changer.” Dick wanted to know why I didn’t file a lawsuit. When I explained that the government had to investigate that violation and specifically the attorney general who President Obama appointed Dick understood my frustration.

There is more, but you will have to listen.
